MADMAC's GET ON......

Forgive me followers for I have sinned, it's been a few months since my last confession and for the lack of posts I apologise. In my defence I was on a monster live tournament rush for 2 weeks then went to Florida for 3 weeks to spend it all. The return of oldest listed race meeting in the world has inspired me to share with you my tips for today. So without further ado read them and weep.....

1.25 Roger Sez 6/1 (p)

1.55 Chachamaidee 7/2 (p) (nap)

2.25 Bogart 11/4 (p)
West Leake Diman 16/1 e/w (p)
Cockney Dancer (p)

3.00 Set to music 5/2 (p) (NB)

3.35 Hyperlink 10/1 (p)
Un-named Fave (p)

4.10 Farlow 8/1 (p)
Barnet Fair 8/1 (p)

Chachamaidee should walk the 1.55. Bogart is is fine form and should be close in the 2.25 but there seems to be a lot of noise for Cockney Dancer, but with only one run in a class 5 to go on I'm unsure. West Leake Diman is a great value e/w @ 16/1.

Set to music just gets better and better the further it goes and won its last race with plenty left in the tank. The extra 2 furlongs should suit and it's the Queen's horse on ladies day, need I say more.

(nap = nap of the day) (NB = Next Best) (p = pisspot perm (12 lines @ £1 = £12 total stake))

please note the opinions on this page are only mine and should be ignored at all costs, bets usually lose but sometimes win, only bet what you can afford to lose and if you think you have a problem with gambling you definately have.

Jokerstars Rant.....

If I had to just play online poker all the time I would have to top myself. This is my exit path from half a million chips to out in the $5 turbo rebuy $15k gtd....

The blinds are big so its allin or pass basically....

Hand 1 - JJ v 99 I flop my set and 99 makes a 4 card flush on the river

Hand 2 - AQ v 89 & 78 I flop my Q but they both make a straight

Hand 3 - I run AJ into a short stacked AA

Hand 4 - A8 v KQ I flop the 8 and he turns the K (same guy as JJ v 99)

Hand 5 - Finally I'm allin for just over one BB utg with AJ suited and the bb has T5 off, The flop comes 789 and of course I'm going to hit my J, what else would happen......Boooom there it is on the river, thanks for coming!!!

I did ask the 99/KQ guy if he ever got his chip in infront but no response was forthcoming!

Is there any wonder I can never win at Jokerstars, they don't even attempt to make the bullshit creative, as soon as you see your opponents cards you know what beat is coming your way!!!

Rant over.......

Royal Ascot - Day 4

Apologies for no blog yesterday but I didn't have time and was too excited about Bapak Chinta potentially winning the 1st race and the rest of the day being a party.

I have however thoroughly studied today and it's it couldn't be easier, so here's my thoughts:

2.30 Inetrobil 6/1 (p)
Lilys Angel 12/1 (p) e/w

3.05 World Domination 8/1
Glens Diamond 10/1 (p)

3.45 Theyskens Theory 5/1 (NB) (p)

4.25 Green Destiny 7/4 (nap) (p)

5.00 Eternal Heart 7/1 (p)
Halifax 7/1 (p)

5.35 Our Jonathon 8/1 (p)
Excellent Guest 20/1 (p)

I don't like the favourite in the 1st but I may have slipped up there, I'm just not a fan when they've only run at dodgy tracks in Ireland. I have a thing about World Domination it was 20's antepost for the Derby and came into 7/2 then they pulled it when it ran badly against Carlton House recently over 1m2f. It was so impressive on it's debut over todays distance I've had to have a big bet on it.

Theyskens Theory I am very bullish about that's why it's my NB. I had a tip for Green Destiny and I don't think it can lose to be honest which pushes it up my nap of the day. As for the last 2 races once again it's pinstickers paradise time and I can see these two being the pisspot busters.

Royal Ascot - Day 2

Moderate success yesterday with my nap of the day coming home and doubling it with Frankel, but as usual with the big meetings you feel inclined to have a bet on every race and your profit gets easily pissed away on e/w punts.

A win is still a win though so without further ado let's move on to day 2's selections:

2.30 Codemaster 15/8 (nap) (p)

3.05 I'm a Dreamer 4/1 (p) (NB)
Seta 5/1 (p)

3.45 So You Think 1/2 (p)
Twice Over 14/1 (e/w)

4.25 Eton Forever 14/1 (p)
Start Right 7/1 (p)
Brick Red 25/1 (p)

5.00 Shumoos 5/4 (p)

5.35 Rougette 14/1 (p)
Humdrum 11/2 (p)

I have doubled Codemaster with Shumoos 5/1 and also included So You Think for a treble 8/1
I'm not sure what's happening with Twice Over, I have won bundles of money on that horse but it appears to be out of form at the moment. However if it's back to form it will give So You Think a good run for the money and that's why I'm having it e/w 14's is a ridiculous price!

The 4.25 is the pisspot buster and to be honest it was too much for me to work out.

Royal Ascot - Day 1

After being tipped about 'Medici Time' on Friday and it duly obliging at 25/1 my sportsbook bankroll is looking at lot healthier (Well anything above zero is a start!) This new found wealth enables me to have a dabble at Royal Ascot, so without further ado here are my selections:

2.30 Canford Cliffs 5/4 (p) (nap)
Rio De La Plata 25/1 (e/w)

3.05 Sole Power 8/1 (p)
Tangerine Trees 20/1 (p) (e/w)

3.45 Frankel 1/3 (p)
Neebras 66/1 (e/w)

4.25 Brocklebank 16/1 (p)
Fulbright 18/1 (p)
Mezmaar 5/1 (p)
Power 5/1 (p)

5.00 Junior 4/1 (p) (NB)
Zigato 9/2

5.35 Magic City 10/1 (p)

Canford Cliffs is my nap of the day, it would have been Frankel but the price is pointless on it's own. Canford Cliffs always does just enough to win and I can't see that changing today, I don't even like the challenger Goldikova and have therefore disregarded it. I have also doubled Canford and Frankel for a tasty 3/1. Rio De Le Plata is way better than 25/1 and is therefore an e/w must.

In the 3.05 Sole Power won a class 1 over the distance at York and I believe they have been just giving it some run outs since with a view to winning this. Tangerine Trees is way better than 20/1 and again is an e/w must.

Frankel can't lose, so obviously we need to look for a good e/w punt and I like nothing else on the card other than 'Neebras' and I liked it at 100's but 66/1 is still massive.

The 4.25 is a pinstickers paradise so feel free to shut your eyes and and stab yourself in the hand, or you can have some of the four I've listed.

Junior is great on the flat or over the sticks and won over this distance here last year, which is why it's my Next Best and it will definately get a place, it always does!!!

Although the 5.35 looks like a minefield I have studied it profusely and 'Magic City' looks the best class in the bunch.

MADMAC's GET ON......

I've got excited about the Dante' at Donny and this has spurned me into action to produce a blog on the subject. So without further ado here are todays selections:

1.30 Duchess Dora 15/2 (P)
Falasteen 7/1 (P)

2.00 Midday 10/11 (P) (nap)

2.30 World Domination 11/4 (P) (NB)

3.00 St. Moritz 7/1 (P)
Pintura 9/2 (P)

3.35 Night Carnation 4/5 (P)

4.10 Come on Blue Chip 5/1 (P)

For the last race I have also included the un-named fave in the pisspot due to the fact there are lots of maidens in the race, making it 8 lines @ £1 = £8 stake. I don't really like Pintura in the 3pm but there's mad money for it and it won last year, although it's done nothing since. I think World Domination should piss the Dante, but I want it to win the Derby so that's why it's only my (NB).

MADMAC's GET ON......

Well it's the Royal wedding this week and what better way for Liz to pay for it than one of her horses bringing home the bacon today. So with this in mind my bet today is:

15.40 @ Ascot - Free Agent 7/2

and if you want to double it for around an 8/1 return you can include:

16.05 @ Pontefract - Hawaafez 10/11

I'm thinking a 2pt win bet on the Queens horse and a 2pt double.

Mob bosses are running Online Poker........

So, online poker company owners are being indicted like they are mafia bosses and all because the US government aren't taxing their profits. Here's an idea, give them a fair tax deal, legalise online poker and maybe they can base their companies in the US. Maybe some of these failing Euro economies like Ireland/Portugal want to do a tax deal for such companies so the can base there!

In other news, I played last night's Sunday million on stars, which had a much more sensible field of 6000+ runners rather than the usual 15000+ (every cloud and all that....) No result for me though! I also played the 20 euro rebuy £10k gtd 6 seat on Ladbrokes and went out 8th in a pot for the chip lead to a three-outer of course! Four handed with the blinds @ 2k/4k the button raises to 20k and I reraise from the BB with AT off to 68k, he calls and the flop comes A85 with 2 hearts. The pot is big enough for me here so first to act I ship my remaining 126k and he snaps it and shows A6 off. The turn pairs the board with a 5 and of course he hits a 6 on the river.........

If I start winning these 79/21's I might actually start collecting some cash ffs!!!

Aintree......Day 1

OMFG it seems like it was only last week I was getting drunk on the black stuff and cheering Big Bucks over the line at Cheltenham and were off again - V. Excited !!!

I still see no reason to oppose the big lad and it should be 12/12 for Big Bucks, although 4/7 is awfully short so it may be worth looking for a big priced 3rd place after BB and GC, or even a tricast. I'm still hot for Wishfull Thinking (nap) in the 16.50 and this will be my big bet of the day @ 2/1; also Denman will get another 2nd behind Carole's Legacy.

Without further waffle and BS here are my selections for Day 1 Aintree:

14.00 Big Bucks 4/7 (1) (P)
Grand Crus 7/2 (2) (P)
Knockara Beau 40/1 (tricast - all the above)

14.30 Zarkandar 4/5 (1) (P)
Grandouet 7/2 (2) (P)

15.05 Carole's Legacy 6/1 (NB) (1) (P)
Denman 11/8 (2) (Forecast)

15.40 Baby Run 7/2 (1) (P)
Moncadou 9/1 (2) (P)
Kilty Storm 12/1 (3) (P)

16.15 Woolcombe Folly 7/1 (1)
Tchio Polos 6/1 (2) (P)
Oiseau De Nuit 7/1 (3)

16.50 Wishfull Thinking (nap) 2/1 (1)
Mermedit 2/1 (2)
Tharawaat 12/1 (P) (curveball)

Terror Alert Levels

Subject: Terror Alert Levels

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved."

Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even “A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out.

Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance."

The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards."They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be alright, Mate." Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!" and "The barbie is cancelled." So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

R.I.P. Elwood

My faithful companion of over 15 years was put to rest on Friday, my lovely dalmatian Elwood, he will be sorely missed - Love you Spotty Bott.!!!

I played online poker last night and in Ladbrokes 20 euro rebuy 10k gtd, I managed a 6th for 300 euros after losing with KK to A7 suited who made a flush and AT v 78 on a flop of A78. It does seem to be a tournament for me though, as that's 12th, 8th and 6th and I've only played it four times I think.

In other news, the Cheltenham festival starts tomorrow and I shall be having a thorough study of tomorrow's card this evening. When I've come up with all the losers I'll put them on here, but if you want some sound betting advice, you could do worse than check out thegame's blog (link at the bottom of this blog)

Finally a couple of selections for you today to get us warmed up for tomorrow's carnage:

Tempting Fate.....

Obviously me banging on about losing with aces just prompted another episode at 3am ish this morning, 12 left again in an online tournament at Ladjokes. Utg raises just over minimum and its folded to me on the bb with AA, once again facing the tournament chip leader. This time I'm getting a bit short stacked and could do with a double up, so I decide it looks weaker if I ship allin and he has the chips to call with mediocre holdings anyway.

So I push allin and he snaps with KQ suited and the flop comes 963 rainbow followed by a turn J and of course, you guessed it, a lovely ten on river for him to make his straight. Oh and this is the guy that the very hand before has just busted AA with his QQ...........!!!!!

I've looked through today's cards and although the best racing is at Newbury, nothing jumps out and there are easier pickings elsewhere. Just a 1pt double for you today, both at Lingfield:

14.00 Spirit of Oakdale 3/1
17.25 Estonia 9/4

Pocket Rockets Dilemma.......

Pocket Rockets, American Airlines, whatever you want to call them pocket Aces are the best starting hand you can get pre-flop in NL Texas Holdem Poker, but are they cursed online and should you play them differently?

You are always pleased to see them but a lot of people will say either you win a small pot or you lose a big pot with them.

I'll give you an example that happened to me this week and I was 99% sure when all the money went in it was the end of my tournament:

It's online at Ladbrokes Poker 2.50 euro rebuy turbo 6 seat, 12 left and I am 5th in chips with just over 300k and the blinds have just increased to 10k/20k with 2k ante. It's folded to me on the button and I have AA and raise it to 51516 or something ridiculous like that leaving me exactly 250k behind. The small blind folds and the tournament chip leader is on the BB with 700k and calls, the flop comes 234 with 2 hearts. First to act he jams it allin and after a quick glimpse to check I have the ace of hearts in my AA I reluctantly call allin. He flips over Kh5h and at this point even though I am still slight fave, like I mentioned earlier, I am 99% sure this is the end for me. There is a glimmer of hope as the board pairs 2 on the turn but if course 7h hits the river and I'm gone in 12th.

I see a lot of people online now going allin preflop with AA and KK no matter what the blinds are or what the pot is in the middle, just to reduce the risk of outdraws.

My question is this - should you play them badly to reduce the risk of outdraws or not?

Comments please........

UKIPT

Saturday saw me down at DTD in Nottingham for the Pokerstars UKIPT and after 4 hours it was going steady and I was just starting to get busy with the 3-bet reraise. The last hand before the 2nd break and a lady raises in mid-late 550 with the blinds at 100/200, the button reraises to 1700 and I have AK suited in the sb and 16k ish. Upto this point the guy on the button has been having a bad time with me reraising him on a regular basis and is getting a bit annoyed. I'm thinking he just wants to win one hand before the break and he's on the button, so I repop it to 6k hoping to just put it to bed right there. It seems however he has different ideas and after the original raiser folds he ships it allin for 12k. I'm now kicking myself for reraising so much as it's 6k to me to win 18k and even if he has KK I have the right price to call. So I commit the rest leaving me very short at 3300 and he flips AA - DOH! Of course the board doesn't even give him a sweat and my stack gets decimated.

I come back after the break and my table has been broken, I find my new seat and sit down with my pittance. Two hands in and I get 99 in early so I raise to
950 with the blinds now at 150/300 hoping to just pick it up pre or ship it to a reraise. Thi
s guy in late flats it and the flop comes AJ6, we check to the river and I feel he has some of it, to which he shows KJ off. The blinds go through me and I'm now down to 1900, wh
en a guy in mid-late raises for 800 and I ship it with KQ off. He's th
e only caller and he shows 88 and then the dealer proceeds to put an 8 first card on the flop. 'That's no a great start' I say 'I'll get my coat' .....and that as they say was that.....I did get a free T-Shirt though LOL!
Oh well bring on Manchester next month where I will not be overplaying Anna Kournikova.....

Looks good wins Fuck All!

I went down to the G-Casino Sheffield last night to exorcise my demons and play the £50 rebuy, but this was full of donkeys calling every raise with Q6 and flopping QQA v my A9, so that was short lived.

I did however make a return to the dealers choice £5/£5 cash game where I sat with £140 and left with £750, hmmm nice......

Last night's poker!

Firstly thank you Man.City for spoiling my win treble, you DONKEYS, after being 2-0 up aswell!

As predicted, another final table in last night's £15k gtd £30 rebuy at G-Casino Sheffield. Although I may of mentioned that I wasn't going to deal, I was very tired and was developing a headache. So we did a deal with 8 left for a nice lump. No deals on Sunday, I promise I'll just smash it!

It's looking like I'm hitting some form again just in time for the UKIPT Nottingham - I HOPE SO!

Nothing again on the horses, it all looks very boring.

MADMAC's GET ON......

£30 rebuy £15k gtd at the G-Casino Sheffield tonight, which of course I'm going to smash, so if you want to come and donate, please do!

In other news, I've looked through today's cards and nothing jumps out so I'm switching to the football and going 3pts on the Man.City, Spurs & Liverpool treble, which pays just under 7/1

Back to Winning Ways...

Sunday night saw me back to winning ways in live poker tournament play. It was supposed to be the £100 rebuy at the G-Casino Sheffield, but due to the fact that only nine people including me had bought in, they changed it back to the normal Sunday £50 rebuy and put a guarantee of £7.5k on with 50 runners. The field amounted to 54 at the close of buyins so the guarantee was made, but the tournament actually made £8350.

I had a reasonable start with KK holding up in a 3-way allin and thought my plans to smash it were looking good when I slow played the ladies in early and the flop came Q94 with 2 diamonds. I get it allin on the flop 3-way against Q8 and A4 who hits runner diamond for a 4-card flush LOL! I then end up rebuying when my A5 is second best against 22 on an A52 flop. Luck is back on my side though when I get it allin pre 4-way with 78 suited and hit 2 pair, beating QQ and AT etc. So at the end of the rebuy I have 31k with the addon, a very healthy stack.

After the restart two hands take me to 110k. Firstly on the button, blinds 300/600, utg flats it and I raise 1800 with KcQc, the BB calls and so does the limper. The flop comes 975 all clubs, the BB bets min. 600 and utg flats, I make it 2250 the BB folds and then utg goes allin for about 20k. Of course I snap it and he shows Jc8s needing runner runner str8 flush to win - mmmmm nice! The 2nd hand I have AhKh utg and with the blinds now at 400/800 I make it 2400 which is called on the button and the BB. The flop comes AsTs8c and I lead out for 4k which is called by the mad Korean on the button and the BB folds. The turn comes 7d and now I decide a big bet is required to find out where I am and if he's flushing, to make him pay for it. I bet 15k and he flats it - WTF? The river comes 6c and I'm a little concerned as to what he's got so for a bit of pot control I check and he shoves allin for 27k. I have about 32k left so this hand is pretty much my tournament, deciding he's missed his flush I call and he insta-mucks - mmmm nice!

Anyway to cut a long story short I make the final table as chip leader but we end up doing a deal with 8 left and being 2nd in chips I get a deal which is only £100 less than the chip leader and gives me better than 3rd place.

Lets hope this is the start of a nice run of cashes!

MADMAC's GET ON......

After the success of yesterday's two big priced winners I have decided to re-invest on the following pair, both at Huntingdon:

14.45 - Vagrant Emperor 16/1
15.45 - Radius Bleu 11/2

I've had a 1pt e/w single on the first, a 1pt single on the second one and a 1pt double. I'm more bullish about the first one to be fair even though it's the higher priced of the two.

MADMAC's GET ON......

Well I've decided to get back into the saddle and give the nags another whirl, so here is todays Lucky 15, there were five but I've missed the off for the 12.50pm and it came 2nd so never mind; although there is a stewards inquiry but they never change anything.

13.50 @ Southwell - Bentley 4/1
14.00 @ Sedgefield - Pinewood Legend 5/2
15.00 @ Sedgefield - Midnight Diamond 9/2
15.20 @ Southwell - Sleepy Blue Ocean 10/1

Bad Fold

I was very annoyed with myself, so much so I didn't even stay for cash I just went home...

I was playing last nights £15gtd £30 rebuy at G-Casino Sheffield and we had just re-started after the rebuy period. A couple of hands in and blinds are 100/200 and I have 7800 chips. A player limps from mid and in the Hi-jack position I raise to 600 with 89 suited, the sb calls (flip-flop) and the limper calls. Before the flop is dealt flip flop checks in the dark and the flop comes 852 rainbow, to which they both check; I bet 1200 and they both call. Before the blank turn '6' even settles on the table flip flop is allin for 5400 and the limper folds. I have 5k left so it's all in to me, I am convinced flip flop has sweet FA, but I only have top pair 8 with a 9 kicker and it's for my tournament life 3 hands after the re-start.

I work through the action in my head and I'm 99% sure I'm infront, but I end up passing and he shows me Q7 off, sweet FA as I thought.

The moral of the story is, don't pass just because it's too early to get knocked, go with your read! Had I called his obvious bluff I would of had 15k+ chips and then when I lost a race 2 hands later with AQ v 33 I wouldn't have been left with 300 chips with the blinds at 200/400, with no way back!!!

As I may have mentioned before, I am very annoyed with myself!

Bring on the DTD grand prix on Friday, where I shall exorcise my demons!

Ketchup

Lets catch up.....apologies for the lack of posts, but I've been really busy at work and still am. Keep hitting the crossbar with the poker, mostly due to my AA getting cracked all over. I feel a good win is coming though and hopefully it will be at this weekends Grand Prix at DTD. I am playing the Friday Day 1 and will post my progress on twitter if anyone is interested @markcullumbine

No horse tips I'm afraid I've lost all confidence, but will be gearing up for Cheltenham.

Until then peeps, stay lucky!
