Back to Winning Ways...

Sunday night saw me back to winning ways in live poker tournament play. It was supposed to be the £100 rebuy at the G-Casino Sheffield, but due to the fact that only nine people including me had bought in, they changed it back to the normal Sunday £50 rebuy and put a guarantee of £7.5k on with 50 runners. The field amounted to 54 at the close of buyins so the guarantee was made, but the tournament actually made £8350.

I had a reasonable start with KK holding up in a 3-way allin and thought my plans to smash it were looking good when I slow played the ladies in early and the flop came Q94 with 2 diamonds. I get it allin on the flop 3-way against Q8 and A4 who hits runner diamond for a 4-card flush LOL! I then end up rebuying when my A5 is second best against 22 on an A52 flop. Luck is back on my side though when I get it allin pre 4-way with 78 suited and hit 2 pair, beating QQ and AT etc. So at the end of the rebuy I have 31k with the addon, a very healthy stack.

After the restart two hands take me to 110k. Firstly on the button, blinds 300/600, utg flats it and I raise 1800 with KcQc, the BB calls and so does the limper. The flop comes 975 all clubs, the BB bets min. 600 and utg flats, I make it 2250 the BB folds and then utg goes allin for about 20k. Of course I snap it and he shows Jc8s needing runner runner str8 flush to win - mmmmm nice! The 2nd hand I have AhKh utg and with the blinds now at 400/800 I make it 2400 which is called on the button and the BB. The flop comes AsTs8c and I lead out for 4k which is called by the mad Korean on the button and the BB folds. The turn comes 7d and now I decide a big bet is required to find out where I am and if he's flushing, to make him pay for it. I bet 15k and he flats it - WTF? The river comes 6c and I'm a little concerned as to what he's got so for a bit of pot control I check and he shoves allin for 27k. I have about 32k left so this hand is pretty much my tournament, deciding he's missed his flush I call and he insta-mucks - mmmm nice!

Anyway to cut a long story short I make the final table as chip leader but we end up doing a deal with 8 left and being 2nd in chips I get a deal which is only £100 less than the chip leader and gives me better than 3rd place.

Lets hope this is the start of a nice run of cashes!
