Bad Fold

I was very annoyed with myself, so much so I didn't even stay for cash I just went home...

I was playing last nights £15gtd £30 rebuy at G-Casino Sheffield and we had just re-started after the rebuy period. A couple of hands in and blinds are 100/200 and I have 7800 chips. A player limps from mid and in the Hi-jack position I raise to 600 with 89 suited, the sb calls (flip-flop) and the limper calls. Before the flop is dealt flip flop checks in the dark and the flop comes 852 rainbow, to which they both check; I bet 1200 and they both call. Before the blank turn '6' even settles on the table flip flop is allin for 5400 and the limper folds. I have 5k left so it's all in to me, I am convinced flip flop has sweet FA, but I only have top pair 8 with a 9 kicker and it's for my tournament life 3 hands after the re-start.

I work through the action in my head and I'm 99% sure I'm infront, but I end up passing and he shows me Q7 off, sweet FA as I thought.

The moral of the story is, don't pass just because it's too early to get knocked, go with your read! Had I called his obvious bluff I would of had 15k+ chips and then when I lost a race 2 hands later with AQ v 33 I wouldn't have been left with 300 chips with the blinds at 200/400, with no way back!!!

As I may have mentioned before, I am very annoyed with myself!

Bring on the DTD grand prix on Friday, where I shall exorcise my demons!
