A Harsh Lesson in Greed...

Today I have learnt that greed leads to disappointment.

Being a season ticket holder at Bramall lane, I was absolutely certain that we would lose at home to Hull city today and when the price on Hull was 2.9 on betfair I had to wade in to at least gain something from the match. i.e. money in my pocket to soften the blow of our exit from the FA cup. Due to injuries and cup-tied players the blades were very thin on the ground and Blackwell had to field a team consisting of many of his fringe players, which ironically turned out to be the best 11 he has fielded all season - Doh!!!

We were actually playing football on the floor stringing passes together instead of the usual balloon extravaganza that takes place and amazingly early on, we scored 1st and went infront through Greg Halford; who Blackwell usual plays at the back or on the wide right. Now at this point odds on Hull went to 8.2 on betfair, which obviously meant I had to put another £50 on. This took my book on the match to +635 Hull -200 Sheff.Utd and when the inevitable happened and Hull equalised I could have laid them @ 3.8 for £200 and gone all green on the match for a book of +75 Hull and all my stake back for any other result.

I was pondering this decision all the way through half-time between sips of my lip burning black coffee and bites of a luke warm sausage roll, but kept looking at the +635 on Hull and decided to wait a bit. When the clock hit 26mins into the 2nd half I checked the odds again and the 3.8 lay was still available. Again I kept staring at the +635 Hull and when the clock hit 30 mins hit the submit key on the mobile phone, unfortunately it was too late and the lay wasn't matched. When the odds refreshed it was now 7.2 and all that was left was to hope that Hull scored in the last 15mins.

I found this all very uncomfortable hoping that Hull would score and knock us out of the cup, but lets face it money is money and we won't make Wembley anyway. Of course the inevitable happened and the game finished 1-1 and it's a replay at the KC.

The moral of this story is........always get your book green when the opportunity arises because greed leads to misery!!!

Saturday's Football Bets

I have studied tomorrows footie and it all looks very ropey with lots of draws.

As usual I have tried to select wins with positive odds and all I could find were these 3:

Hull City to beat Sheff. U @ 9/5
Darlington to beat Lincoln @ 13/8
Rotherham to beat Gillingham @ 5/4

The prices are from laddies so you can probably get better elsewhere. I've simply had a £15 treble which pays £248.06 and I'm already working out what to invest it on next week.

Friday the 13th - ooooh scary!!!!!

Just a bit of a catch up...

Recently my sports betting has gone from strength to strength, all stemming from a returned stake when I went all green on the superbowl 2 weeks before the game. I've had some decent results on the horses, darts and recent success on the football with singles on Sheff.Utd's opposition; namely Donny Rovers and the pigs. (sheff.Weds.)

And tomorrow will be strike 3 on the football as it appears David Blunkett has priced up the Hull v Sheff U match. I was discussing it with a friend of mine and said that if Hull were anywhere near evens I was lumping on it, so when I saw the staggering 15/8 at betfair I fell off my chair and waded in for £250.

If you have a football bet this weekend this is a must!!!

As someone famous once said - Get on it. GET ON IT LARGE!!!!

As for todays racing here are my selections, treat them with the contempt they deserve:

14.45 @ Lingfield - Hawkspring

15.20 @ Lingfield - Mr Chocolate Drop

16.40 @ Wolves. - Incomparable

As someone else famous always says - TTFN.
